so i love morocco.

have i been there?
no.
it all started with watching casablanca while babysitting way back in high school.
i love the ornate decor.
i love the intensely detailed tile.
i want to try their tea badly.
i want to ride a camel.
i want to wear purple, gold, fuchsia and orange garmets.
i want arched doorways and to lounge on a roof top.
i want to sit in a jasmine-scented courtyard.
the culture aesthetic is amazing.
maybe it would even be considered their religious aesthetic.
let's be honest i loved the anthro catalog a few years back that was in morocoo.
i am envious of my friends that went there.

way back during my jr year of college (i cant believe i just said way back), i was tired of studying one night and informed my roommates that i was moving to morocco the next day.
the next day i went to the caf and outside there was a table with info about teaching abroad. i told them i was getting my credential and wanted to teach in a regular classroom. the lady informed me they had a program where you could do that in morocco. coincidence? (w/ more researched i learned you had to pay THEM to do it...not so great of a deal for someone with student loans.)

anyways what prompted this post is that my church sends short term mission teams there. they shared today about their experience there. it was wonderful. they painted a picture very different than the vibrant colors, camels, and exotic designs i had in my head. one of people who need Jesus. orphans and widows who need the followers of Jesus to show them His love.

maybe one day i'll go there.

please forgive all these jumbled up thoughts :)

oh and here is a blog by a woman who lives there

  1. Did you ever the Anthropologie catalog when they shot it in Morocco? It was wonderful, but I wished they put more Moroccans in it.
